Festive Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Crinkle cookies are a popular dessert for the holidays, but they can be enjoyed year-round. They are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is sure to please everyone.

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Ingredients

  • cup all purpose flour
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder sifted
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp baking soda
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup brown sugar packed
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3 oz melted chocolate for drizzle
  • 1/2 cup chopped candy canes for topping

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. 
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugars, and eggs until well combined.
  • Pour into dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 2 hours. 
  • Preheat oven to 350° and line 2 large baking sheets with parchment.
  • Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough and roll into a ball. Place on prepared baking sheet 2” apart. 
  • Bake cookies until cookies puff and crack, about 14 minutes.
  • Allow cookies to cool completely.
  • Melt chocolate and drizzle on each cookie. Top with candy cane pieces and allow chocolate to set.

Fun fact! The crinkled appearance of the cookies is caused by the reaction between the baking soda and the acidic ingredients in the dough.
